Terms of Use

Last updated: 2026-05-15 · Draft for invite-only MVP

1. Acceptance

By creating an account or using Newrel ("the Service"), you agree to these Terms of Use and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.

2. Who can use it

You must be at least 18 years old. You must be authorised to enter into a binding agreement in your jurisdiction. During the invite-only phase, you must have a valid invite. We may suspend or terminate accounts that don't meet these conditions.

3. Your account

You're responsible for the activity on your account. Keep your credentials private. Tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorised access. You agree to provide accurate profile information; deliberately impersonating someone else is a violation of these Terms.

4. Acceptable use

Don't do these things on Newrel:

  • Harass, threaten, or stalk any user.
  • Post content that's sexually explicit, hateful, violent, or otherwise abusive.
  • Solicit, advertise, or recruit for commercial purposes without our written permission.
  • Impersonate another person or misrepresent who you are.
  • Share another user's personal information without their consent.
  • Scrape, automate, or use bots against the Service.
  • Attempt to bypass moderation, rate limits, or other technical controls.
  • Use Newrel for any unlawful activity.

Violating any of these may result in immediate termination and, where appropriate, reporting to law enforcement.

5. Your content

You own what you post. By posting it, you give Newrel a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, display, and deliver that content to other users as necessary to operate the Service. This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies cached or replicated for normal operational reasons (backups, logs).

6. Connections and conversations

Newrel facilitates introductions between users — it doesn't guarantee outcomes. You alone decide whom to meet, where, and on what terms. Use the same judgment you would in any other in-person interaction. We strongly recommend public meeting places for first encounters. Newrel is not responsible for the conduct of any user toward another, online or offline.

7. Moderation

We use automated moderation on user-supplied text (signals, messages) to flag prohibited content before it's delivered. We may also remove content or accounts when we receive a report or detect a violation. We won't always notify you in advance, but we'll generally tell you why after the fact.

8. Service availability

Newrel is provided "as is." We'll do our best to keep it running but we don't guarantee any specific level of availability or that features will remain unchanged. We may modify or discontinue features at any time, especially during this MVP phase.

9. Termination

You can delete your account at any time from Settings. We can suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, if we're required to by law, or if we decide to discontinue the Service. Provisions that by their nature survive termination (intellectual property, limitation of liability, governing law) survive.

10. Intellectual property

The Newrel name, logo, design, code, and product are ours (or licensed to us). You don't get rights to those by using the Service except as needed to use the app itself.

11. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Newrel and its operators are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service, including interactions with other users. Our aggregate liability for any claim arising from the Service is limited to the amount you have paid us in the previous twelve months — which, for an invite-only MVP, is typically zero.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify Newrel against any claims or losses caused by your violation of these Terms or your unlawful use of the Service.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms. We'll change the "Last updated" date above and notify you in-app or by email for material changes. Continuing to use the Service after that counts as acceptance.

14. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where Newrel is operated. Any dispute will be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction, unless mandatory local consumer-protection law gives you the right to your local courts.
